Semarang has four HIV cases

SEMARANG, Central Java: Four people have tested positive for the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), which causes the deadly Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS).

Head of the local health office Sudibyo Yuwono was quoted by Antara as saying that the four people with HIV were found in Magelang, Pemalang and Salatiga.

This is the first report of its kind in the province.

He said the four people found with HIV are currently being "handled intensively" by his office so hat the virus does not spread.

Sudibyo said that health surveys have been conducted in various high-risk places and 35 AIDS "commissions" have been established in the province.(pwn)
