The Semarang City Government (Pemkot Semarang), through its Uninhabitable Housing (RTLH) programme, will soon carry out renovations on residents’ homes affected by the tornado disaster that occurred on Monday, 30 April 2026, resulting in dozens of houses suffering damage ranging from minor to severe.

This was stated by Semarang Mayor Agustina Wilujeng after directly inspecting affected residents’ homes in RT 5 RW 3, Gedawang Ward, Banyumanik Subdistrict, on Wednesday, 8 April 2026.

Based on preliminary data, there are 65 affected houses in the area, with 29 of them experiencing fairly severe damage. To ease the burden on the affected families, Agustina said her side would distribute various logistical aids, from food staples and tarps to temporary bedding.

“There is also cash assistance. Now, those that need renovation will be included in the Disperkim list for RTLH. Hopefully, the survey team won’t take long because this is indeed a necessity,” she continued.

Agustina Wilujeng also expressed appreciation to the residents who worked together to help one another during the disaster. To date, community work is still ongoing at the site, with residents collectively repairing damaged house roofs due to the strong winds.

“Once again, I thank the community for their harmonious cooperation, the city government team that has been involved, and to the affected families, we convey our condolences.” (*)
