The Semarang City Government (Pemkot) has moved quickly to handle the tragic case affecting a second-year junior high school student with the initial T, a victim of burning by her uncle in the Tambakmulyo area, North Semarang. This swift action serves as a form of response and concern from the government towards the safety of its citizens, particularly minors. Semarang Mayor Agustina Wilujeng, through North Semarang Sub-District Head Siwi Wahyuningsih, along with ward officials, immediately coordinated across sectors with relevant agencies, including the Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Agency (DP3A), Social Services, and K.R.M.T. Wongsonegoro General Hospital (RSWN). This effort aims to ensure the victim receives maximum protection as well as proper medical treatment after previously facing obstacles with treatment costs. “We also convey that on the instructions of the Mayor, we are providing attention and intervention to the victim. The first step we took was coordinating with DP3A regarding women’s and child protection, as the victim is still a minor,” said Siwi Wahyuningsih on Wednesday, 22 April 2026. The handling process began with accompaniment and in-depth assessment by the Semarang City DP3A. Previously, the victim received treatment at a private hospital but was discharged due to limited funds. Seeing this situation, the sub-district officials along with DP3A immediately took action by transferring the victim to RSWN to receive intensive medical care. “Because it couldn’t be covered by BPJS, as she was previously taken to a private hospital. With accompaniment from DP3A, the victim was then sent to RSWN for examination and intensive treatment,” she explained. It is known that the victim suffered burns covering about 30 percent, affecting the right arm to the back. In addition to medical handling, Social Services provided logistical assistance in the form of basic food supplies to ease the family’s burden during the recovery period. “Burns around 30 percent. That’s why we evacuated her because she is vulnerable to bacterial or viral infections,” Siwi concluded.
