Semarang City Government Prepares 900,000 Litres of Clean Water to Face Dry Season

The dry season affecting Semarang City has begun to impact the availability of clean water in several areas. To meet the community’s needs, the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) of Semarang City, together with the Semarang City Government, is continuing to distribute clean water aid to affected areas. The city government has prepared 900,000 litres of clean water to anticipate the impacts of the drought. As of the end of July 2026, around 48,000 litres have been distributed to residents in four priority drought-prone sub-districts: Jabungan, Rowosari, Gondoriyo, and Gedawang. PMI and the local government continue to monitor the community’s clean water needs and adjust distribution schedules according to conditions on the ground. The clean water assistance is expected to fulfil the daily needs of residents while reducing the impact of the drought, which is forecast to continue throughout the dry season.
