Semarang City Government Dispatches 63 Civil Servants for Hajj
As many as 63 Civil Servants (ASN) from the Semarang City Government have been dispatched to perform Hajj in the Holy Land. Their send-off forms part of the preparations for the departure of regional Hajj officials who will accompany the pilgrims during the pilgrimage.
Mayor Agustina Wilujeng underscored the role of Semarang City’s Hajj officials as the frontline of pilgrim services in the Holy Land. This mandate is seen not only as a personal religious duty but also as a responsibility in public service within an international setting.
That is why Agustina urged the officials to carry out their duties with full responsibility. “This is a heavy yet noble mandate. Be the face of the government that provides the best service, safeguard the pilgrims’ health, and prioritise safety,” said Agustina at City Hall on Wednesday, 15 April 2026.
The dispatched ASN comprise various essential elements in Hajj organisation, such as the Regional Hajj Health Team (TKHD), Indonesian Hajj Health Team (TKHI), and Regional Hajj Guidance Team (TPHD). They will all provide direct assistance to pilgrims while in Saudi Arabia.
Pride was also expressed over the selection of these dozens of ASN as representatives of the government, both at the regional and national levels. “I am pleased to send them off. The hope is that the entire pilgrimage process runs smoothly until their return,” Agustina stated.
Agustina affirmed that the officials are not merely pilgrims but also representatives of Indonesian government services abroad. The inclusion of the Acting Secretary of the Regional Secretariat (Pj Sekda) of Semarang City in the group has also drawn attention.
The highest-ranking official joining the departure is expected to serve as an example to other pilgrims, particularly in terms of discipline and sincerity in worship. “They are expected to be role models during the pilgrimage, both in attitude and commitment,” Agustina remarked.
Of the total 63 ASN dispatched, the largest composition comes from the education sector. As many as 29 are known to be teachers and school principals.
In addition, the involvement of health personnel from the City Hospital (RSUD) and Health Department also plays a crucial role in supporting medical services for pilgrims. “The majority are from the Education Department, followed by RSUD and the Health Department,” she said.
Although dozens of ASN have been dispatched, public services in Semarang City are assured to run normally. This is due to the total number of ASN reaching around 14,000, along with prior task arrangements.
Internal coordination has been conducted to prevent any disruption to services for the public. Therefore, the departing ASN are asked to focus on performing the pilgrimage without worrying about local duties.
“Public service matters have been well coordinated. So, participants are asked to focus entirely on the pilgrimage,” Agustina said.
The ASN were also reminded to maintain their physical condition while in the Holy Land. Adapting to the extreme weather in Saudi Arabia is considered important to ensure the pilgrimage can be carried out optimally.
“Maintain sleep patterns and do not overexert yourselves, as the series of rituals is quite physically demanding,” she advised.
Agustina also entrusted prayers to the pilgrims for Semarang City to always be blessed and for smooth development. “Prayers are entrusted for Semarang City to always be showered with mercy and kept away from obstacles to development,” she said.
