Semarang airport resumes operation

SEMARANG: Achmad Yani Airport in Semarang reopened on Sunday morning after a Boeing 737-200 airplane was towed from the airport's tarmac.

The commercial airplane, operated by Mandala Airlines, skidded off the runway on Friday evening while landing during heavy rain. No fatalities were reported in the accident.

It took over a day to move the plane because a special crane had to be sent to Semarang from Jakarta. -- Antara
