Semanggi cases stalled again
JAKARTA : The Attorney General's Office has once again
returned the case files for the Semanggi I and II tragedies to
the National Commission for Human Rights (Komnas HAM) due to
technical mistakes made by the Commission.
Komnas HAM chairman H.R. Djoko Sugianto said on Wednesday that
the AGO returned the documents as they did not have some witness
signatures.
Djoko, accompanied by Komnas HAM member Albert Hasibuan, was
speaking to reporters after a meeting with Attorney General M.A.
Rahman for consultation to complete the documents.
Djoko admitted the mistake, saying the signatures were
mandatory under existing laws.
"We will try to complete the documents in 30 days and send
them back to the Attorney General's Office," he said.

1998 and 1999. -- Antara
