Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk (WIKA) is constructing the Semanan Distribution Center (DC) Reservoir as part of the Karian–Serpong Regional Drinking Water Supply System (SPAM) to enhance service reliability in West Jakarta. The infrastructure will serve as a hub for distributing bulk drinking water from the Karian Dam to the local network.

As of July 2026, physical progress on the Semanan DC Reservoir has reached 18.35%, surpassing the planned target of 16.10%. The project is scheduled for completion by July 2027 and is designed to serve the District Metered Area (DMA) of Semanan 3 and North Meruya 1.

WIKA Corporate Secretary Ngatemin stated that the project reflects the company’s commitment to delivering infrastructure that provides tangible benefits to the community while supporting national water security. ‘The provision of clean water infrastructure is a fundamental foundation for improving the quality of life. Through the construction of the Semanan DC Reservoir, WIKA is committed to delivering quality infrastructure, on time and to specification, while supporting the reliable and sustainable fulfilment of drinking water needs for Jakarta,’ Ngatemin said.

The scope of work includes the construction of an 8,500 cubic metre Glass Fused Steel tank, installation of a 3,000 kVA generator, a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system with automation, distribution pump panels, and a horizontal split case pump with a power rating of 450 kilowatts and a flow capacity of 405 litres per second.

WIKA is optimising the use of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Gamma AR to improve design coordination accuracy and construction efficiency. Once operational, the SCADA system will enable real-time monitoring and control of water distribution, supporting smarter and more efficient network management.

Looking ahead, the Semanan DC Reservoir is expected to strengthen surface water-based drinking water supply for the West Jakarta community while supporting efforts to reduce dependence on groundwater extraction. This project continues WIKA’s track record in the water supply sector, following the completion of the Jatiluhur I Regional SPAM and West Semarang SPAM, as well as ongoing work on the Post-Disaster SPAM in West Sumatra. It reinforces WIKA’s commitment to developing infrastructure aligned with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles.
