Books on the theme of self-healing are said to be gaining popularity among readers in Bali. This is inseparable from the healing culture in Bali, which has developed from traditional to modern methods.

“Indeed, the trend in Bali used to be less focused on self-improvement books, but now it is starting to increase,” said a hypnotherapist in Bali, I Made Sumerta, Friday (15/5/2026).

According to Sumerta, Balinese society has long been familiar with healing practices in everyday life. He believes that this makes books on the themes of self-development and hypnotherapy more easily accepted by the community.

Many healing practitioners have started writing and publishing their own books. As a result, books on the theme of self-development have also become more diverse.

“Now it is starting to develop and some of our colleagues have also started producing the books themselves. So I think the development has started to increase,” added Sumerta.

Sumerta believes that reading self-healing books can help people find solutions to the mental problems they face. On the other hand, he also highlights the high level of stress experienced by Balinese people in the midst of the image of slow living and the development of the tourism industry.

“This is an international world, tourism, while we still have a standard of living, even at the minimum wage or below. That is what becomes a mental burden in itself,” said Sumerta.
