The selection of the top 15 for the Hoegeng Awards 2026 was determined during a meeting of the Expert Council at the Bank Mega Tower in South Jakarta on Wednesday (6/5/2026). The Expert Council for the Hoegeng Awards 2026 consists of Dr. Habiburokhman, S.H., M.H., Chairman of Commission III of the DPR; Alissa Qotrunnada Wahid, M.Psi, National Coordinator of the Indonesian Gusdurian Network; Putu Elvina, S.Psi., MM, Deputy Chair of Komnas HAM; Dr. Mas Achmad Santosa, S.H., LL.M., former Acting Head of the KPK; and Gufron Mabruri, member of Kompolnas.

“We ourselves cannot interfere with each other, so we just leave it to fate. For anyone who feels they have an interest in interfering with us, it is simply not possible,” said Habiburokhman to detikcom after the meeting.

Mas Achmad Santosa also assured that the Expert Council members for the Hoegeng Awards 2026 are not figures who can be easily influenced. According to him, the Council’s only interest is to promote exemplary police officers so that they become better known to the public.

“This is not my first time (as an Expert Council member for the Hoegeng Awards); I’ve done it 4-5 times, and with Ibu Alissa, Ibu Putu, then Pak Habib from Commission III of the DPR and from Kompolnas, I see no interests whatsoever, except that we truly must promote these good police officers to be better known by the public, better known by their leaders, so that the good ones are pushed for promotion and become examples for other police officers,” he stated.

Alissa Wahid expressed a similar view. According to her, the independence of the Expert Council members is maintained in selecting the top 15 for the Hoegeng Awards 2026. She emphasised that there are no impositions.

“There is absolutely no interference, no impositions at all, no whispers; everything is presented as it is, even the field verification process. Then, obtaining input from the public is done proactively and openly. So, the space for receiving input from the public is very wide, which keeps us independent,” she said.

Meanwhile, Gufron Mabruri hopes that the Hoegeng Awards 2026 will become a good platform for awards to encourage cultural reform in the Polri institution. He wants the exemplary police officers in the Hoegeng Awards to inspire other Polri members to work better.

“I think this event is one of the efforts to encourage, by highlighting their achievements, giving awards, giving recognition to them. The hope is that this becomes a value that can be replicated by other members in other regions,” said Gufron.

In line with Gufron, Putu Elvina also hopes that there will be more exemplary police figures. According to her, with more good police officers, it can increase public trust in Polri.

“We also believe that in the ongoing police reform, we hope there will be more candidates who can participate in the Hoegeng Awards. Because there is an image that we hope will improve, there is a public trust issue that we want to improve. Thus, our hope from year to year is to get closer to what is expected from the name attached to Hoegeng,” she added.
