The Selection Committee for the members of the National Disability Commission (KND) has announced the results of the administrative selection process. Out of 869 applicants, 101 individuals have been declared to have passed the administrative stage and are eligible to proceed to the next phase.

Mohammad Nuh, Chairman of the Selection Committee for the National Disability Commission, stated that the criteria for future KND members must include a high level of empathy. Furthermore, selected candidates are expected to possess sufficient competence to handle various issues related to disability.

“Beyond having empathy and competence, the third and equally important factor is integrity,” Nuh said in a written statement on Monday (28/9/2026).

According to him, strong moral integrity is required so that members of the National Disability Commission can uplift the dignity and promote the progress of persons with disabilities. In addition to empathy, competence, and integrity, members are also required to be able to mobilise various resources, both domestically and internationally.

“Therefore, we need a National Disability Commission team that functions as a resource mobiliser. The hope is that this can produce a leap forward, rather than just standing still,” he added.

Nuh also emphasised the importance of enhancing digital competence for persons with disabilities. This step is considered vital to ensure they can adapt to rapid technological developments and the demands of the digital era.

Furthermore, Nuh expressed his appreciation to all applicants who participated in the administrative selection process, addressing both those who passed and those who did not proceed to the next stage.

“Life is a competition. Some pass, some do not; that is normal. Rest assured, there are still many spaces and opportunities out there to serve and give the best to society,” he explained.

He urged those who passed to prepare themselves optimally for the upcoming selection stages.

Siswadi, a member of the Selection Committee, noted that 173 people met the complete administrative requirements. However, after a process of assessment, verification, and administrative validation, only 101 applicants were deemed qualified to continue.

“From 869 applicants, 173 met the complete requirements, while 696 did not complete the specified requirements. Subsequently, from those who completed the requirements, an administrative assessment was conducted. 101 met the criteria, and 72 did not,” said Siswadi.

Siswadi revealed that of the 101 applicants who passed the administrative selection, 49 are non-disabled individuals and 52 are persons with disabilities. Among the 52 applicants with disabilities, 24 are visually impaired, 23 have physical disabilities, three have sensory hearing impairments, and two have mental disabilities.

He explained that some applicants failed the administrative selection because they did not meet the established requirements, specifically regarding the completion of essential documents.

Siswadi also asserted that throughout the selection process, the Committee is committed to maintaining integrity and remaining unaffected by conflicts of interest. The committee is working independently and free from personal interests.

Bahrul Fuad, another member of the Selection Committee, emphasised the commitment to maintaining the principle of inclusivity. He ensured that the registration process was designed to be accessible to various types of disabilities.

“The proof is that all types of disabilities were able to register. This shows that the selection process and the platform used have been tested for accessibility, allowing all forms of disability to participate in the registration process,” he explained.

Fuad noted that the main challenge during this selection occurred during the administrative document verification stage. He mentioned that several applicants with high competence were disqualified due to failure to complete mandatory requirement documents.

“Therefore, we cannot be tolerant because the requirements are absolute,” Fuad stated.

Fuad explained that the next stage for participants who passed the administrative selection is a computer-based objective test. Before the test takes place, applicants will undergo trials and receive special assistance for persons with disabilities to ensure their participation is optimal.
