JAKARTA - Police revealed that Bruneian influencer Muhammad Irman Ali, known as Woodyrman (33), admitted to being under the influence of alcohol when he assaulted another Bruneian national, MHF (30), in Blok M, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (6 May 2026).

“He stated he was under the influence of alcoholic beverages,” said Sub-director of the Special Operations Unit of the Jakarta Regional Police Criminal Investigation Department, Ipda Breggy Yesaya Immanuel, in a video statement to reporters on Wednesday (27 May 2026).

During the incident, after a verbal altercation with the victim, the suspect swung a paper bag containing a glass bottle at the victim’s head.

Despite intensive treatment for 10 days, MHF could not be saved and was declared dead on Saturday (16 May 2026).

“The victim fell into a coma, and his condition deteriorated, leading to his death on 16 May,” Breggy added.

Irman was arrested on Monday (25 May 2026) in Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta, and charged with assault resulting in death.

He faces charges under Article 466(3) and Article 468(2) of the Indonesian Criminal Code for assault causing death and severe assault resulting in death, with a maximum penalty of 15 years imprisonment.

Currently, Irman is undergoing interrogation. Police are coordinating with South Jakarta Immigration Office and Interpol due to both parties being foreign nationals.

The incident was captured by CCTV at a mini-market opposite the hotel where the victim was staying. A video uploaded by @viraljakartaselatan on Instagram shows the victim sitting on a small chair.

The suspect, dressed in black, approached the victim, and a woman was seen intervening between them.

The victim appeared to shout while pointing at the suspect, after which the suspect struck him on the head with an object, causing him to fall and become motionless.

South Jakarta Police Public Relations Head, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, confirmed the victim was struck with a paper bag containing a glass bottle.

“The suspect allegedly hit the victim once on the head with a paper bag containing a glass bottle, causing him to fall,” Budi said in a text message confirmation to Kompas.com on Tuesday.

However, Irman was arrested on Monday (25 May 2026) in Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta.
