Selayar Boat Sinking Update: 2 Found Alive, 18 Still Missing

A joint search and rescue team has evacuated two survivors from the sunken vessel KM Nurul Salsa in the waters off the Selayar Islands Regency, South Sulawesi. The two individuals, identified as Nurmiati (46) and Jasmal (24), were found alive after being rescued by a passing fishing boat near Mattalang Island. They were subsequently evacuated to Benteng Port using the Indonesian Navy vessel KRI Marlin 877. On the fifth day of the operation, the search area has been expanded to 1,305 square nautical miles, divided into four sectors. The search effort involves KN SAR Puntadewa 250, KN SAR Pacitan 102, KRI Marlin 877, and KRI Hiu 634, with authorities continuing the search for the 18 people who remain missing.
