Selangor–West Java Investment Forum Aims to Strengthen ASEAN Supply Chains
Invest Selangor Berhad is preparing approximately 150 delegates to participate in SIBS@ASEAN: Bandung Edition on 9–10 July 2026. This business forum is expected to serve as a momentum for strengthening trade and investment cooperation between Selangor, Malaysia, and West Java, while simultaneously driving supply chain integration within the ASEAN region.
The delegation, led by the Menteri Besar of Selangor, Dato’ Seri Amirudin bin Shari, comprises government officials, business players, industry associations, and investors from various sectors. Over the two-day event, participants will attend investment forums, business exhibitions, and industrial visits to explore cooperation opportunities with partners in West Java.
This event marks a new milestone for the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS), as it is the first time the summit is being held outside of Malaysia, ahead of its tenth anniversary in October 2026.
Chief Executive Officer of Invest Selangor Berhad, Dato’ Hasan Azhari Hj. Idris, stated that organising SIBS@ASEAN in Bandung is part of a strategy to expand Selangor’s economic network within Southeast Asia. According to Hasan, holding the forum in Indonesia reflects Selangor’s efforts to build closer economic partnerships with ASEAN nations, including Indonesia, which is one of Malaysia’s primary trading partners.
“The Bandung Edition marks a new chapter for the Selangor International Business Summit, stepping beyond Malaysia’s borders for the first time. Celebrating a decade of SIBS’s success, we believe this is the right time to bring Selangor directly to our ASEAN neighbours,” Hasan said in an official statement on Thursday.
He added that the Selangor delegation is prepared to build cross-border partnerships, encourage new investments, and strengthen Selangor’s position as a gateway for companies looking to expand their businesses into the Southeast Asian market.
Bandung was selected as the venue due to its economic characteristics, which are considered similar to Selangor. Both regions are developing as hubs for industry and innovation, supported by the manufacturing sector, digital technology, and the ecosystem of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
A key agenda in the series of activities is the SIBS@ASEAN One-Day Forum, taking place on 9 July 2026. This forum will discuss opportunities to strengthen trade and investment in the digital technology, property, manufacturing, and logistics sectors between Selangor and West Java.
The forum is scheduled to be opened by the Menteri Besar of Selangor, Dato’ Seri Amirting bin Shari, alongside the Governor of West Java, Dedi Mulyadi. The agenda also includes discussions on strengthening the Malaysia-Indonesia supply chain, investment opportunity presentations, and the signing of several Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) involving governments, industry players, the tourism sector, and educational institutions from both regions.
In addition to the investment forum, SIBS@ASEAN: Bandung Edition will feature business exhibitions in collaboration with Tourism Selangor and Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS). Around 60 Selangor-based entities will introduce partnership opportunities in the medical tourism and education sectors.
In the medical tourism sector, Selangor will promote healthcare services including private hospitals, modern medical facilities, and services for international patients. Meanwhile, in the education sector, various study opportunities and cross-border academic collaborations will be introduced to forum participants.
On the second day, the Selangor delegation will visit several strategic industrial sectors in West Java to observe investment potential firsthand and explore collaboration opportunities with local industry players.
Through the organisation of SIBS@ASEAN: Bandung Edition, Invest Selangor hopes to strengthen regional economic diplomacy and open new growth corridors within the ASEAN region through cross-border collaboration.
