Selangor Selects Bandung as Gateway for Business Expansion into Indonesia
Invest Selangor Berhad will bring approximately 150 delegates to the SIBS@ASEAN: Bandung Edition on 9-10 July 2026 as an effort to strengthen trade and investment cooperation between Selangor, Malaysia, and West Java. The business forum represents a step in Selangor’s regional expansion and a momentum to broaden economic networks within the ASEAN region.
The event, to be held at Pullman Grand Central Bandung, marks a new milestone for the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) as it is being held outside Malaysia for the first time ahead of the celebration of a decade of SIBS in October 2026.
Invest Selangor Berhad Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Hasan Azhari Hj. Idris said the organisation of SIBS@ASEAN: Bandung Edition is part of a strategy to expand Selangor’s business connectivity with ASEAN countries, particularly Indonesia. “Bandung Edition marks a new chapter for the Selangor International Business Summit, now stepping beyond Malaysia’s borders for the first time. Celebrating a decade of SIBS success, we believe this is the right time to bring Selangor directly to our ASEAN neighbours,” said Hasan Azhari.
The delegation, led by Menteri Besar Selangor Dato’ Seri Amirudin bin Shari, consists of government officials, investors, industry associations, and business players from various strategic sectors.
According to Invest Selangor, Bandung was chosen as the location because it shares similar economic characteristics with Selangor, supported by a manufacturing sector, digital technology, and a growing ecosystem of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
Over the two-day event, the agenda will include a business exhibition, an investment forum, and industry visits aimed at strengthening economic relations between the two regions. The exhibition, organised jointly with Tourism Selangor and Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS), will feature around 60 Selangor-based entities. They will offer cooperation opportunities in the medical tourism and education sectors.
In the health sector, Selangor will promote private hospital services and high-tech medical facilities targeting international patients. Meanwhile, in the education sector, various institutions will offer study opportunities and cross-border academic cooperation.
The main agenda will take place on 9 July through the SIBS@ASEAN One-Day Forum. The forum will discuss trade and investment opportunities in the digital technology, property, manufacturing, and logistics sectors between Selangor and West Java.
The forum is scheduled to be opened by Menteri Besar Selangor Dato’ Seri Amirudin bin Shari alongside West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi. A number of agenda items to be discussed include strengthening the Malaysia-Indonesia supply chain, presentations on investment opportunities, and the signing of memoranda of understanding (MoU) between governments, industry players, the tourism sector, and educational institutions from both regions.
On the second day, the Selangor delegation will visit several strategic industrial areas in West Java to explore investment opportunities and business cooperation directly.
Invest Selangor stated that the organisation of SIBS@ASEAN: Bandung Edition is part of a regional economic diplomacy strategy to open new growth corridors and strengthen ASEAN economic integration through cross-border collaboration.
