Sekolah Rakyat in Lebak to Occupy New Building in July 2026
Lebak (ANTARA) - Acting Head of the Lebak Regency Social Service Agency in Banten, Lela Gifty Cleria, explained that the Sekolah Rakyat in the area will occupy a new building located in Panggarangan Subdistrict, spanning 10 hectares, in July 2026.
“The permanent building of Sekolah Rakyat will accommodate 500 students at primary school (SD), junior high school (SMP), and senior high school (SMA) levels,” she said in Rangkasbitung, Lebak, on Monday.
The new building will be equipped with supporting facilities and infrastructure, including dormitories, a library, laboratories, a school health unit (UKS), and facilities for extracurricular activities.
The construction of the Sekolah Rakyat, carried out by the Ministry of Public Works, aims to expand access to education for children from poor and vulnerable families in Lebak Regency, which falls into deciles 1 and 2.
According to her, the Sekolah Rakyat programme, initiated by President Prabowo Subianto, is intended to assist children from underprivileged families, including those who have dropped out of school or are at risk of doing so, to ensure they receive a proper education.
The Sekolah Rakyat programme aims to break the chain of poverty, with students drawn from poor and vulnerable backgrounds.
Consequently, Sekolah Rakyat does not open general registrations but instead uses a direct outreach system to priority prospective students conducted by personnel from the Lebak Regency Family Hope Programme (PKH) Support Team.
In addition, families of Sekolah Rakyat students will also receive support through programmes for uninhabitable housing, participation in the National Health Insurance (JKN), and productive economic training to achieve economic independence.
To date, the Sekolah Rakyat programme in Lebak Regency for the 2025/2026 academic year at the senior high school level has 100 participants attending teaching and learning activities (KBM) at the Education Quality Assurance Agency (BPMP) building owned by the Ministry of Education.
Meanwhile, the integrated Sekolah Rakyat for primary and junior high levels is at the Regency Government’s Job Training Centre (BLK).
“We hope that Sekolah Rakyat in the permanent building can produce quality children of the nation with superior human resources, thereby eradicating poverty,” Lela said.
