Sekolah Rakyat helps students realize their potential: Deputy Minister
In a statement here on Sunday, he said such encouragement is important to help overcome feelings of inferiority often experienced by children from underprivileged families.
“Each of you is valuable. You all have potential that will be developed at Sekolah Rakyat,” he said while speaking with 60 students participating in the school orientation period at high-school-level Sekolah Rakyat (SRMA) 15 in Magelang, Central Java.
Through Sekolah Rakyat, an inclusive education program launched by President Prabowo Subianto, the government provides opportunities for children from underprivileged households to receive quality education and reach their full potential, he said.
The program also reaches out to children from poor and extremely poor families, supporting them in pursuing the dreams they have long aspired to achieve.
Priyono stressed that the encouragement was more than just words.
Although the program has been running for only a year, Sekolah Rakyat schools across Indonesia have already nurtured numerous students to excel in both academic and non-academic fields.
Therefore, he expressed optimism that poverty is not an obstacle for Sekolah Rakyat students to achieve success.
According to him, their interests and talents have been identified through talent mapping, enabling teachers and school staff to guide and develop each student according to their individual strengths.
Meanwhile, principal of SRMA 15 Magelang, Anisatul Masruroh, expressed her appreciation for the support provided by various parties to help foster the students.
She expressed hope that the education students receive at Sekolah Rakyat will serve as a foundation for their future success.
“At Sekolah Rakyat, we are guided by outstanding people. Hopefully, one day, some of you will also become outstanding individuals, achieving success in line with your interests and talents,” she said.
