The Attorney General’s Office Asset Recovery Agency (BPA) has announced that crude oil, seized by the state following an environmental pollution case involving the MT Arman 114 tanker, was sold at auction for Rp 900 billion during the BPA Fair 2026.

“The most significant item we sold was undoubtedly the crude oil. We had crude oil available for sale even before the pre-event stage, with a reserve price of approximately Rp 800 billion, which ultimately sold for around Rp 900 billion,” stated Kuntadi, Head of the Attorney General’s Office BPA, at the BPA Office in Kebagusan, Jakarta, on Monday (18/5/2026).

Kuntadi noted that the BPA Fair serves as a momentum for the Attorney General’s Office to provide wide access to the public to participate in the auction process for seized state assets. “We guarantee that the condition of the goods is good. The public must understand that by purchasing our items, they are not buying problematic goods, but goods that have already had their legal issues resolved,” Kuntadi added.

He further explained that the proceeds from the sale of seized state assets will be deposited into the state treasury to support national development. “Ultimately, this money will be deposited into the state treasury and can be used for national development,” said Kuntadi.

“Our goal is to increase the sales rate. We realise that until now, the sale rate of the items we auction has been quite low, at approximately 25 per cent. We are now striving to increase this to 75 per cent,” Kuntadi remarked.

He ensured that the auction process is open to the general public. Furthermore, auction winners will receive auction minutes (risalah lelang) which can be used to manage the subsequent administration for the purchased goods. The BPA Fair is scheduled to run from today until Thursday, 21 May 2026.
