Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Attorney General’s Asset Recovery Agency (BPA) said hundreds of thousands of tonnes of coal seized from suspect Samin Tan had been sold at auction for Rp264 billion.

“Working with the Palangka Raya State Asset and Auction Service Office (KPKNL), the BPA has auctioned seized coal commodities totalling approximately 209,081.97 tonnes, with a bid of Rp264 billion,” Attorney General’s Office spokesperson Anang Supriatna said in a statement in Jakarta on Friday.

Anang explained that Samin Tan is a suspect in an alleged corruption case involving irregularities in the management of PT Asmin Koalindo Tuhup’s (AKT) mining operations in Murung Raya regency, Central Kalimantan, from 2016 to 2025.

The auction comprised approximately 171,107 metric tonnes of coal at the PT Artha Contractors jetty, and approximately 66,000 metric tonnes aboard 15 barges located in the area of the same jetty, in South Barito regency, Central Kalimantan.

The coal was given a reserve price of Rp263 billion, with a required auction deposit of Rp130 billion.

Anang said one bidder was approved and declared the winner.

“The winning bidder was Agni, director of PT DIOR, with a bid at that amount,” he said.

The auction sale price was Rp1 billion above the initial reserve price, bringing the total to Rp264 billion.

Including the buyer’s auction fee of 3 per cent, or about Rp7.9 billion, the winner’s total payment obligation is Rp272 billion. After deducting the Rp130 billion deposit already paid, the remaining balance is Rp142 billion.

“The net proceeds from the sale of these seized assets will first be held in another Attorney General’s Office holding account (RPL), pending a final and binding court ruling,” he said.

A further 436,283.08 tonnes of coal seized from Samin Tan had previously been sold for Rp179 billion at an auction conducted with the Banjarmasin State Asset and Auction Service Office (KPKNL).
