Security success

Security success

From Warta Kota

Christmas this year was celebrated smoothly and peacefully.
Hopefully, this will mark the return of peace to our country.

A spate of bomb blasts on Christmas Eve in 2000 and several
other bomb blasts at a number of churches in 2001 were terrifying
acts of terror for us.

The peaceful celebration of Christmas this year is the result
of the success by our police and state intelligence agencies in
maintaining security and making preparations against the
likelihood of other acts of terror.

It must also be attributable to the success of our police and
state intelligence agencies in cracking down on the network of
terrorists in our country, marked by the arrests of Muchlas, Imam
Samudra and their accomplices, suspects in the Bali bomb blasts.
A high-ranking police officer has even said that three of four
groups of terrorists have been broken up, arrested and legally
processed. Those terrorists still at large must have been
paralyzed and can no longer act effectively in an organized
manner.

We hope that the police and the state intelligence agencies
can crack down and uproot all of the terrorist networks operating
in the country.

Praise must be heaped on the National Police and intelligence
agencies for this great achievement. Doubting the ability and
professionalism of our police and intelligence agencies is itself
an act of terror that subverts national resilience. The
perpetrators are those who seek to create a misleading public
opinion.
