Security Service Provider Emphasises Importance of Healthy AI Ecosystem

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The CEO of IT security service provider ITSEC, Patrick Dannermacher, has emphasised the importance of a healthy and responsible artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystem in the effort to develop technological innovations that are beneficial and do not pose threats.

Speaking at a discussion held in Jakarta on Thursday, Patrick stated that AI technology is evolving so rapidly that no one is truly prepared to face the various new challenges and threats arising from its development.

However, he noted that the presence of a healthy and responsible AI ecosystem could help prevent the development of technologies that potentially pose threats and curb the misuse of technology for criminal activities.

He stated that the responsible development of AI can be achieved if an ecosystem functions like a well-coordinated machine.

“But everyone must truly work together, from government institutions to universities, and even including industry and others,” he said.

In this regard, he continued, the government plays a role as a regulator and creator of AI provisions that are adaptive while taking security aspects into account.

Educational institutions play a role in building digital talent capacity, including teaching the principles of safe AI utilisation and development.

Meanwhile, industry players must invest and undertake efforts to develop AI innovation responsibly.

“We know that we can never wait. Therefore, the entire ecosystem must be able to build knowledge regarding AI awareness among the public as users. This will help decide the direction in which AI is developed,” said Patrick.
