Security protection
Security protection
for TKI?
From Warta Kota
Reports on Indonesian migrant workers (TKI), particularly
women, who have become a target of extortion and robbery upon
their arrival home, should arouse our concern.
After leaving their families for several years of hard work,
they still have to face such mishaps. Stories of rape and torture
of female workers by their employers abroad add to the tragedy.
In my view, it is necessary to make special security
arrangements for the protection of TKI returning home,
particularly during the run-up to Idul Fitri. Their ports of
arrival and subsequent destinations are clearly known.
In this way, the government would not only appreciate TKI in
terms of their foreign exchange contribution, but also within a
humanitarian context.
