Security increased after bomb blast
MYANMAR: Myanmar's military government stepped up security in the country's capital on Friday a day after an explosion killed one person and injured three others, with soldiers scouring parks and garbage bins for more bombs.
The Myanmar government said the explosion was a premeditated attack, but did not give details on who might be responsible or a possible motive.
"It was a time bomb planted in a trash bin," a government spokesman said.
The day-to-day bustle on Yangon's streets continued unabated but people said they were worried about the possibility of another explosion.
"We are really worried and very much afraid to move about in the capital but we have to, as we need to earn a living," 22-year-old street hawker Ko San Win said. -- Reuters
