Security Improves, Public Assessment of Polri Performance Rises in Three Months
Public assessment of the police’s performance in maintaining security shows an upward trend over the past three months. The Tempo Data Science (TDS) survey conducted in February - March 2026 recorded that 84% of respondents rated the police’s performance as good or very good. This figure is an increase compared to the previous survey in December 2025, which was around 63%. The increase aligns with the high level of public safety. As many as 94% of respondents said they felt safe in their residential environment. Meanwhile, 91.3% felt safe walking alone at night. These findings indicate that the public assesses the police’s preventive function as quite effective and directly felt by the community at the local level. In public opinion studies, everyday perceptions of safety become one of the main indicators that influence assessments of the police institution. Nevertheless, this survey also noted that positive assessments in the security aspect have not been fully followed by the same perceptions in the aspects of service and law enforcement.
