Police have revealed the motive behind the theft of a motorcycle from the Cileungsi Regional General Hospital (RSUD) parking lot in Bogor, West Java. During interrogation, the perpetrator admitted to committing the theft to pay off family debts.

Cileungsi Police Chief, Commissioner Edison, stated that the perpetrator pawned the stolen motorcycle. The proceeds from the pawning were used to settle the debts, according to the perpetrator’s confession on Tuesday (9/8/2026).

The stolen motorcycle was pawned to an individual for a value of Rp 2.3 million. The police are currently conducting further investigations into the case.

“The police have also successfully secured the stolen motorcycle as evidence. The perpetrator and the evidence have been taken to the Cileungsi Police Station to undergo further legal proceedings,” said Edison.

Previously, a motorcycle belonging to an office boy at RSUD Cileungsi, Bogor Regency, was reported missing. The investigation revealed that the perpetrator was a security guard on duty at the hospital.

The victim initially reported the theft from the hospital parking area on Sunday morning (24/5). Following the report, police conducted an investigation and reviewed CCTV footage from the surrounding area.

“From the CCTV examination, police found several irregularities suggesting the involvement of an insider. Suspicion arose because the perpetrator allegedly used an employee parking access card to drive the vehicle out of the hospital area,” Commissioner Edison told reporters on Sunday (7/6).

Police, in coordination with RSUD Cileungsi management, examined vehicle and employee entry/exit logs during the time of the incident. This series of inspections eventually identified a security guard named Adang as the primary suspect.

Edison added that during the crime, the perpetrator took a jacket belonging to a colleague from the security post and wore a white mask and someone else’s helmet to disguise his identity. After successfully starting the victim’s motorcycle, the perpetrator exited the hospital area using a previously stored parking access card.
