Security guard killed by mob

JAKARTA (JP): A security guard was killed by people who mistakenly took him for a thief on Jl. Permata, Kebon Pala, East Jakarta.

An officer at the Kampung Makasar police subprecinct said the police are still investigating the killing of Jenton Jackson Tampubolon, 23.

"The mob caught and killed the wrong person," the officer said.

Jenton's mother, Mangantan Simanjuntak, said Jenton went to a noodle stall on Sunday night when suddenly people approached him and shouted, "Thief, thief."

The people then assaulted Jenton and one of them stabbed him in the back and chest. Jenton died at the Indonesian Christian University hospital.(04)
