Security Guard in Viral Confrontation with Police Officer Reveals He Feared Being Reported and Fired

Fiktor Harefa, a security guard for the MRT Jakarta project who went viral after reprimanding a police officer for a traffic violation at the Bundaran HI roundabout, has met with West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi. During the meeting, Fiktor shared the full chronology of the incident and his emotional state afterwards.

Fiktor explained that he was about to patrol the project site near the Pullman Hotel when he saw pedestrians waiting at a crossing. As the pedestrian light turned green, a black vehicle ran the red light. Fiktor said he reflexively tapped the car, shouting ‘Hey, red light,’ because he feared for the safety of the pedestrians, particularly women who were in front. He was concerned the driver might have been drowsy or distracted by a mobile phone.

The vehicle, later identified as belonging to a police officer, slowed down. Fiktor approached to explain his actions, but the driver and passengers did not roll down their windows. Two individuals then exited the vehicle and confronted him, telling him, ‘Don’t act like a thug, you can’t bang on people’s car windows.’ The incident caused a traffic jam at the busy roundabout. Fiktor revealed that following the confrontation, he cried and was afraid the police officer would file a report against him, which could lead to him being fired from his job as a security guard for the MRT Jakarta project.
