Instead of ensuring security, a security guard in Cileungsi, Bekasi Regency, West Java, resorted to theft. Disturbingly, the guard staged a role-play as a thief at his own workplace. The incident occurred at the Cileungsi Regional General Hospital. A security guard named Adang callously stole a motorcycle belonging to an office boy at the hospital. Adang has been arrested by the police. The case of motor vehicle theft was investigated by the authorities after the victim reported the missing motorcycle in the hospital’s parking area on Sunday morning. Police then investigated the loss report by examining CCTV footage and processing the crime scene. Officers found clues which led to Adang’s arrest on Friday. “From the CCTV examination, police discovered several irregularities pointing to the suspected involvement of an insider. Suspicion arose because the perpetrator allegedly used an employee parking access card to take the vehicle out of the hospital area,” said Cileungsi Police Chief Kompol Edison in a statement on Tuesday. In this case, police also arrested a man named Agus, who is suspected of being the receiver of the stolen motorcycle. Both suspects, along with the evidence of the stolen motorcycle, have been taken to the Cileungsi Police Station. Police and hospital management then checked the entry and exit data of vehicles and employees at the time of the incident. As a result, officers became suspicious of one security personnel who was recorded on CCTV showing suspicious behaviour. The Criminal Investigation Unit of the Cileungsi Police, led directly by Police Chief Kompol Edison, immediately detained Adang for further examination. To the police, Adang admitted to stealing the victim’s motorcycle in the morning after the night-to-morning shift change. “The perpetrator revealed that his actions began when he found an employee’s parking access card left on a motorcycle dashboard some time earlier. However, the card was not reported to the authorities and was instead kept to be used when committing the theft,” he stated. The CCTV footage became a crucial clue in uncovering the case. Based on the footage examined, Adang was seen covering his identity by disguising himself as someone else. Adang was in costume while making off with the victim’s motorcycle. He took a jacket belonging to his co-worker at the security post, wore a white mask, and took someone else’s helmet to disguise his identity. “After successfully starting the victim’s motorcycle, the perpetrator took the vehicle out of the hospital area using the parking access card he had previously kept,” he concluded. To investigators, the perpetrator admitted to stealing to pay off family debts. The perpetrator had pawned the stolen motorcycle and used the money to pay off the debts. “The money from the pawn, according to the perpetrator’s confession, was used to pay off family debts,” said Edison. The stolen motorcycle was pawned to someone for a value of Rp 2.3 million. Currently, the police are continuing their investigation into the case. “Police also managed to secure evidence in the form of the victim’s motorcycle. At present, the perpetrator along with the evidence has been taken to the Cileungsi Police Headquarters for further legal proceedings,” he explained.
