Security Guard Caught on CCTV Harassing Student, Still Attending Work at SMAN 1 Sentolo
A security guard at SMAN 1 Sentolo, Kulon Progo, is alleged to have committed harassment by embracing a female student. Despite calls for his immediate suspension, the individual is still working today.
“There is intervention happening now; after this went viral, I advised the Headmaster to go there and deactivate him,” said Johan Wahyudi, the Vice Principal for Student Affairs, when met at SMAN 1 Sentolo, Kulon Progo, on Thursday (17/09/2026).
“Our proposal is for him to be deactivated starting today, and then perhaps sent home, before being transferred on the 1st. However, he is still working today; he will be deactivated tomorrow,” he continued.
Johan stated that the proposal to deactivate the guard had actually been made since the student first reported the incident. However, the third-party security service provider failed to act promptly.
“I proposed an immediate transfer the very second I heard about it. But the third party did not follow up immediately, for reasons unknown. It seems they were considering completing the contract. In reality, I have received a letter today stating he will be transferred on 1 October,” he said.
Johan admitted that the security guard and the student are neighbours in the same hamlet and are acquainted with one another.
“They are neighbours in the same hamlet. They know each other, and the girl’s parents know him too, as everyone in the hamlet knows each other,” he emphasised.
It is reported that the alleged harassment occurred in August 2026, after school activities had concluded and the premises were quiet. The student had asked the guard for help retrieving a forgotten item.
“The item was left behind. She asked the guard for help because it was already 4:00 PM, school activities had ended, and everything had been closed. She asked the guard to help retrieve a charger or something similar that was left behind. It was retrieved,” he explained.
Johan stated that after retrieving the item, the guard allegedly attempted to embrace the student, but she managed to avoid him.
“After exiting, because they are neighbours, he attempted to embrace the girl, but she avoided him. He tried to embrace her, and she dodged,” he said.
Feeling uncomfortable, the student reported the incident to her teachers and the school counsellor, subsequently requesting CCTV footage.
“She did. Because there is CCTV, the student, feeling uncomfortable, reported to the counsellor, saying, ‘Yesterday, that security guard tried to embrace me. Please check the CCTV for that time.’ She requested the footage from that hour,” he said.
“There was indeed an attempt to embrace her; she avoided him and ran away while video-calling a friend, presumably to ensure it would not happen again,” he added.
