Security Guard at Bundaran HI Clarifies He Was Not Asked to Prostrate, Reveals True Events

The incident involving a dispute between a security guard and an Alphard driver that went viral on Wednesday, 22 July 2026, has been clarified. The security guard, named Fiktor Harefa, was said to have been cursed at and forced to prostrate and apologise to the driver after reprimanding him for allegedly running a traffic light while pedestrians had the right of way.

Fiktor, who later met with West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi, revealed the facts behind the moment he prostrated himself to apologise. Fiktor stressed that no one asked him to prostrate. According to him, the action was purely his own initiative.

Fiktor explained that the incident began when he, the driver, and the passengers of the Alphard were at the Bundaran HI police post to resolve the matter. At the location, one of the passengers asked about the company Fiktor worked for. The passenger then threatened to report Fiktor to his company so that he would be dismissed.

’From these three people, one said, “Where is your vendor? I want to go there. What is your vendor? So that after this I can report you and get you fired as a lesson,” he said, as quoted from a YouTube broadcast by Dedi Mulyadi on Sunday, 26 July 2026.

The threat made Fiktor feel pressured. He admitted to crying and even prostrating because he was worried the matter would be reported to the company where he worked, leading to his dismissal.

‘Because there was no hope left, I felt cornered and immediately cried. I have only been working for three months. I cried, and on my own initiative, I prostrated so that this problem would not be escalated to my vendor. I cried because I was afraid of being fired. It was not because I was told to,’ he said.

He further explained that while he was crying and prostrating to prevent the matter from being reported to his vendor, one of the people from the Alphard approached and intimidated him.

’After that, the driver came up to me, his face close to mine, and said, “Don’t act like a thug. I’ve been in Papua for a long time,” he continued.

This statement made Fiktor even more frightened, causing him to prostrate again, begging for the matter not to be reported to his vendor.
