Security forces kill 23 terrorists in north-west Pakistan
Islamabad (ANTARA) – Pakistani security forces have killed 23 terrorists in a series of intelligence-based operations carried out across parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in north-west Pakistan, according to a military statement. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistani military, said on Thursday (21 May) that the operations were conducted in North Waziristan district and Bannu in the province as part of the country’s ongoing counter-terrorism efforts. Weapons, ammunition, and a large quantity of explosives and improvised explosive devices have also been recovered from the deceased terrorists, who remained actively involved in various terrorist activities in the province. Additionally, during the clearing operation, ISPR said a number of underground tunnels and bunkers used by the terrorists were uncovered and destroyed by security forces. The cleansing operation continues to eliminate other terrorists in the area, the military added, noting that Pakistan’s law-enforcement agencies will continue to work at full speed to eradicate the threat of terrorism from the country.
