Security boosted at Jakarta mall
INDONESIA: Armed Indonesian policemen were deployed Saturday
to a Jakarta shopping mall after the US and Australian embassies
warned their nationals of a possible bomb attack there in the
next three days.
The deployment of the policemen to the Mangga Dua district in
North Jakarta comes after the US embassy on Friday advised its
citizens to stay away from the mall until March 14.
About 100 policemen including anti-terror bomb squad had been
patrolling the complex since Friday night, said a spokesman for
the mall who identified himself as Irvan.
National police spokesman Aryanto Budiarjo told AFP that
police took "serious notice" of the embassy warning but they
would serve as backup security for the mall. -- AFP
