Security around MPR session
Security around MPR session
From Suara Karya
As an ordinary citizen, I am greatly concerned about the
placement of civilians (AMPI, Pemuda Pancasila and FKPPI) to help
secure the Special Session of the People's Consultative
Assembly/House of Representatives MPR/DPR.
My question is: why them? If the Armed Forces and the
government allow civilians to participate in guarding the MPR/DPR
compound, why don't they involve students? Our universities have
a great number of students with military training (recruited and
trained by the Armed Forces) who would gladly participate in
securing the MPR/DPR compound and help with the smooth running of
the Special Session.
I think that to avoid speculation on the part of society, why
not leave the task of security to the Armed Forces? It is
sufficient for civilians to safeguard their respective
residential areas.
I am worried that if something happens -- like students going
to the MPR/DPR compound and civilian security guards, without the
spirit of soldiers, act as shields and confront the students --
can the Armed Forces commander ensure there will be no physical
clashes?
The civilians security force, tired and lacking sleep, might
easily get angry. If clashes occur, the consequences will be
utterly tragic. They are all youths with a future, the nation's
hope, and they are forced to do something that is in vain.
