Securing Gold PROPER Award, Arsari Tambang Subsidiary Targets 100% Renewable Energy at Smelter
PT Mitra Stania Prima (MSP), a tin company under the auspices of Arsari Tambang, has secured two of the highest awards in the 2026 Company Performance Rating Programme in Environmental Management (PROPER). The company received the Gold PROPER award and the Green Leadership PROPER from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia.
The awards were presented directly by the Minister of Environment, Hanif Faisol Nurofiq, to MSP Commissioner Harwendro Adityo Dewanto and Arsari Tambang President Director Aryo P. S. Djojohadikusumo at Sasono Langen Budoyo, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), Jakarta, on Tuesday (7/4/2026).
Arsari Tambang President Director, Aryo P. S. Djojohadikusumo, stated that this achievement validates the company’s commitment to maintaining environmental quality in its operational areas free from pollution.
“The most tangible impact felt by the community is the increasingly clean air quality. This is part of our commitment towards net zero, namely not producing air or water pollution,” said Aryo after receiving the award.
As a concrete step following the Gold PROPER achievement, Aryo revealed that MSP is preparing a major transformation in the downstream sector. One of them is the target of full use of renewable energy at the processing facility.
“Insyaallah next year we target 100 percent renewable energy usage at the smelter. This is part of our sustainable efforts to improve environmental quality,” he emphasised.
Not stopping at the downstream sector, Aryo also aspires to improve the PROPER rating in the upstream sector or mining activities. Currently, MSP’s mining unit holds the Green PROPER predicate and is targeted to rise to Gold PROPER through the modernisation of heavy equipment.
“In the future, we will push for an upgrade to Gold PROPER with the use of zero-emission heavy equipment and electrification across the entire production process,” explained the graduate of an overseas university.
Furthermore, Aryo emphasised that all environmental innovations undertaken are not merely to chase formal recognition, but as a form of the company’s moral responsibility to nature and society.
“We do all this not just to chase awards, but as a commitment not to pollute the environment. Integrity is non-negotiable now and forever,” Aryo concluded.
It is known that the Gold PROPER award itself is given by the Ministry of Environment to companies assessed to have carried out environmental management beyond what is required (beyond compliance), as well as consistently implementing social innovations and community empowerment around the mining area.
