Securing Energy Supply, Bahlil Accompanies Prabowo to Russia to Discuss Bilateral Cooperation
Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia, departed for Moscow, Russian Federation, to accompany President Prabowo Subianto on a working visit with a diplomatic mission aimed at expanding mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation in the energy sector.
Spokesperson for the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Dwi Anggia, explained that Bahlil’s participation in the visit demonstrates the crucial role of the energy sector in supporting national interests amid global dynamics.
“This working visit is a continuation of the partnership between the two countries, which for Indonesia aims to ensure long-term national energy resilience,” said Dwi Anggia in her statement on Monday, 13 April 2026.
According to her, the meeting will open opportunities to expand concrete collaboration and cooperation between Indonesia and Russia in the future.
The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources views this visit as a strategic step in strengthening cross-border energy cooperation to support sustainable national energy resilience amid global uncertainties.
For information, President Prabowo is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin upon arrival in Moscow.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that one of the main agendas to be discussed is the continuation of energy cooperation, including efforts to ensure the stability of national energy supplies, particularly oil.
“Continuing cooperation with the Russian government and ensuring stable national energy supplies, including oil availability,” said Teddy.
He added that this discussion is relevant amid geopolitical dynamics and changes in the global energy landscape, which affect the balance of energy supply and demand.
In addition to energy cooperation, the two heads of state will also exchange views on global geopolitical developments. Indonesia will reaffirm its position in maintaining world stability and peace, while strengthening strategic partnerships with partner countries.
President Prabowo, along with a limited entourage, departed from TNI AU Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, Jakarta, at around 23:10 WIB using a Garuda Indonesia aircraft. In addition to Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, others accompanying the visit include Foreign Minister Sugiono and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
The journey to Moscow takes approximately 12 hours of non-stop flight, with an estimated arrival on Monday morning local time. Upon arrival in Moscow, President Prabowo is scheduled to hold a one-on-one meeting with President Vladimir Putin in the afternoon.
