Some 3,067 joint personnel were deployed to guard and serve demonstrations at several locations in the Central Jakarta area (Jakpus). The police used a humane and professional approach in handling the demonstrations.

A readiness parade was held on Thursday (21 May 2026), at 08:00 WIB, at the Southwest Crossroads of Monas, Jakpus. The parade was led by Karorena Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Teguh Tri Sasongko, with personnel from Polda Metro Jaya and Polres Metro Jakarta Pusat.

In his address, Kombes Teguh Tri Sasongko asked all personnel to prioritise a humane and professional approach during security operations.

“Carry out security duties with full responsibility, humanely, and continue to prioritise the safety of the public as well as personnel on the ground. Serve our brothers and sisters who express their aspirations properly in accordance with procedures,” Teguh said in a statement on Thursday, (21 May).

He also reminded personnel to maintain solidarity and not be easily provoked by provocations during the security operations. The demonstrators come from various elements of society, including the Forum Komunikasi Ojol Tertindas and several other groups who are currently voicing their aspirations in the Monas southern cross area, Gambir, Central Jakarta.

The Chief of Jakarta Pusat Police, Kombes Reynold Hutagalung, said they had prepared security to the maximum to ensure that the entire sequence of demonstrations proceeds safely and orderly.

“We have prepared 3,067 personnel to secure the demonstrations’ progress. The security is conducted professionally, humanely, and with a persuasive approach,” Reynold said.

Reynold said the security measures represent the Police’s service to guarantee the public’s freedom to express opinions in public in accordance with applicable rules.

“We respect the public’s right to express their aspirations. However, we also urge participants to stay orderly, not anarchic, and to comply with the applicable rules,” he added.

In addition to crowd security, police prepared situational traffic management around the Monas area and Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan to anticipate traffic congestion.

“Traffic around the Monas area will be diverted situationally. We urge the public to seek alternative routes to avoid congestion,” Reynold explained.

The police also urged the public to remain cautious on the roads and follow officers’ directions on the ground to ensure smooth joint activities. The Jakarta Pusat Metropolitan Police concluded that security would be maintained until all activities concluded to keep public security and order safe and conducive.

“People who require police assistance or who encounter disturbances of kamtibmas can contact the police call centre 110, which is available 24 hours,” he concluded.
