The Chief of the Indonesian National Police (Kapolri), General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, has given special attention to security aspects at various tourist destinations during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr holiday period. Specifically, the National Police Chief has urged owners and managers of tourist sites, especially water tourism areas, to tighten security standards for visitors. This instruction was conveyed directly by Listyo Sigit after inspecting the Integrated Eid al-Fitr 2026 Post in Medan, North Sumatra, on Friday (20/3) evening. This step is taken to anticipate potential accidents at tourist sites along with the surge in tourists during that national holiday period. In his statement, the National Police Chief emphasised two crucial points for water tourism managers: the provision of adequate safety equipment and strict supervision of visitor capacity. “Please ensure thoroughly the safety of the community who will engage in tourism activities, especially at water tourism sites,” said the National Police Chief. According to him, the surge in visitors at water tourism sites is often uncontrolled during long holidays. Therefore, managers are obliged to monitor capacity to avoid overcrowding that could endanger lives. “The safety of the community who are travelling, especially at water tourism sites, must be truly attended to,” he stressed again.
