Secrets to Quick Thesis Approval: UBSI Bekasi Campus Head Reveals What Lecturers Actually Look For
For many students, thesis supervisors are often seen as the gatekeepers determining the speed of graduation, with each revision viewed as a new obstacle. However, supervisors aim not to complicate matters but to ensure the research is of good quality and academically accountable. A thesis is more than an administrative requirement; it is a learning process that trains students to think critically, develop solutions, and communicate findings systematically.
Suhardi, Head of the Universitas Bina Sarana Informatika (UBSI) Bekasi campus, stated that approval is not granted out of pity but based on the conviction that the research meets established academic standards. “ACC is not about the lecturer feeling sorry or wanting to rush graduation. Approval is given when the student truly understands their research, can account for every part written, and shows seriousness in the revision process,” he said on Monday.
He noted that clarity of argument is a key aspect lecturers scrutinise. Students must be able to explain their topic choice, the urgency of the problem, and the relevance of the methods used. Abundant data is unhelpful if the student cannot logically and systematically explain the connections between parts of the research. Beyond academic quality, communication ethics are crucial. Students who respect their supervisor’s time, schedule appointments properly, and are open to feedback tend to build a more productive supervisory relationship.
“The academic world teaches not only knowledge but also shapes professional character. Politeness, discipline, and responsibility in communication are competencies students must develop while still at university,” Suhardi said. He reminded students not to overlook technical details such as writing errors, citation formats, and bibliographies. Document tidiness reflects a student’s seriousness, allowing supervisors to focus on the substance rather than correcting basic mistakes that prolong the process.
Suhardi added that students should always attend supervision sessions with progress to show. Even imperfect development makes it easier for lecturers to provide concrete direction compared to students who only express confusion without presenting any work. He also stressed the importance of maintaining communication throughout the thesis process, noting that many students extend their completion time by disappearing after receiving revisions or avoiding discussion of obstacles.
“If there are hurdles, tell your supervisor. Regular and open communication helps find solutions faster. The problem is often not the number of revisions, but when students stop progressing and lose direction,” he explained. A supportive academic environment, including access to literature, good learning systems, and competent lecturers, also influences thesis quality. UBSI Bekasi campus encourages students to utilise its digital ecosystem, providing facilities that support research development, reference access, and technology-based learning as a Digital Creative Campus.
“A thesis should not be seen as a frightening burden. It is an opportunity for students to demonstrate their thinking ability, solve problems, and produce beneficial scientific work. With proper preparation and the right campus support, the process will feel lighter,” Suhardi concluded. Ultimately, supervisors are academic partners helping students reach the finish line with quality. Students with clear arguments, discipline in revisions, maintained communication, and a professional attitude have a greater chance of gaining approval and completing their studies on time.
