Secretary General of Ministry of Transportation Ensures Lebaran Bus Fitness at Purabaya Terminal
Surabaya (ANTARA) - The Secretary General of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub), Arif Toha Tjahjagama, ensured the fitness of Lebaran transport buses through ramp checks at the Type A Purabaya Terminal in Surabaya on Friday. “So all the ones here have been ramp checked, they are fit for the road. Earlier, I also observed how the ramp check was carried out, until everything was tested,” he said. During the event, Arif directly witnessed the vehicle inspection process conducted by terminal officers before the buses were dispatched. The inspection covered the vehicle’s physical condition and administrative completeness to guarantee passenger safety. “For the public in choosing buses, look for those with stickers indicating that the bus is fit to operate,” he said. In addition to vehicle checks, Arif reviewed the terminal’s facilities and services and greeted prospective passengers. He noted input regarding the comfort of the waiting area, particularly the need for room cooling. Meanwhile, the Supervisor of the Type A Purabaya Terminal Service Unit in Surabaya, Verie Sugiharto, stated that the inspections were thorough, including ensuring the wiper function given the rainy season conditions. “For the wipers, of course, this is the rainy season and they must absolutely be normal. Because if not, it will obstruct the view on the road,” he said. Verie added that they would follow up on the input with plans to install air conditioning to improve passenger comfort, especially for those waiting for long-distance departures.
