Secret Israeli Document Reveals Haifa Oil Refinery Severely Damaged by Iranian Missiles, Beyond Repair
A draft official document released by the Israeli Interior Ministry reveals a scale of damage far greater than previously announced following recent Iranian missile strikes. The document was published as part of a procedure to approve a reconstruction project at the Bazan oil refinery complex in Haifa Bay. It reports in detail on damage to gas turbines, steam boilers, electrical rooms, and other support systems that had never before been made public. The document also states that a petroleum derivative storage tank hit in the March attack suffered total damage and is beyond repair. The component must be replaced with a new tank with a capacity of up to 12,700 cubic metres. Previously, a June attack on the complex severely damaged its power plant, disrupted refinery operations, and killed three workers. At the time, Bazan estimated losses at 150 to 200 million US dollars. Nevertheless, Israeli officials then insisted that fuel supplies would not be affected at all. According to the Interior Ministry document cited by the Quds News Network, the impact of the damage extended beyond physical infrastructure and also disrupted the refinery’s operational capacity. The document states that the destruction of the storage tank has ‘directly impacted the ability to produce petrol that meets market specifications, as well as disrupted supplies to consumers.’
