Second-Wave Pilgrims Welcomed by Scorching Medina Weather, Officers Distribute Oral Rehydration Salts
A different approach marked the reception of second-wave Hajj pilgrims at the Millennium Hotel in Medina on Wednesday (10/6/2026). Wednesday afternoon saw the scheduled arrival of pilgrims from the Banjarmasin flight group (BDJ 11), comprising nine travel parties. In addition to mobility assistance, officers partnered with the health team to provide support services for the newly arrived pilgrims. One measure involved providing oral rehydration salt solution to help maintain physical condition amid the still very hot weather in Medina. “The most important thing is the oral rehydration salts, the oral solution, because as we all know, the weather is quite high, the heat, so it is necessary to assist with that oral fluid. And we prioritise it for the pilgrims who have just arrived,” said Medina Sector 4 Head, Mualim Tamim, to reporters from the Hajj Media Centre (MCH). Officers also distributed masks to pilgrims upon arrival at the hotel as a precautionary step to safeguard health after the journey from Makkah to Medina. According to Mualim, this effort is part of a comprehensive service to ensure pilgrims can perform their series of worship in peak condition. “Yes, there was also mask distribution upon arrival here because we anticipate people or Hajj pilgrims newly arriving from outside the city of Medina to this city,” he stated. Furthermore, Indonesian Hajj officers in Medina Sector 4 provided priority services for elderly pilgrims, women, and persons with disabilities. According to him, the entire reception process was carried out by prioritising comfortable and fast service for pilgrims upon their arrival from Makkah.
