Second Wave of Hajj Pilgrims Begin Move to Madinah; Ministry Ensures Safe and Comfortable Services
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – The second wave of Indonesian Hajj pilgrims began moving from Makkah to Madinah on Sunday (7/6/2026). The Indonesian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj) has ensured that all pilgrims receive safe and comfortable services.
This phase represents the final stage of service for Hajj pilgrims in Saudi Arabia before they return to their homeland via Prince Muhammad bin Abdul Aziz Airport, Madinah. The Spokesperson for the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, Maria Assegaf, stated that all services have been optimally prepared to ensure the movement of pilgrims is safe, orderly, and comfortable.
“The movement of pilgrims from Makkah to Madinah is not merely a change of cities, but part of our efforts to ensure pilgrims continue to receive the best services until the end of the Hajj pilgrimage series,” Maria said in a press release on Monday (8/6/2026).
According to her, this year the Ministry has introduced improvements in service quality in Madinah, including placing some regular pilgrims in hotels with closer access to the Prophet’s Mosque (Masjid Nabawi).
“Our orientation is not solely on facilities, but on how pilgrims can worship more comfortably, more easily, and without excessive fatigue, especially for the elderly, people with disabilities, and pilgrims with special needs,” she added.
