The Deputy Minister of Defence, Donny Ermawan Taufanto, has revealed that 2,300 civil servants (ASN) are scheduled to undergo training to become part of the National Reserve Component (Komcad) during the second wave of 202ng. The training programme is set to last for 1.5 months.

“For the second wave, our target for this year is 4,000 civil servants to become Komcad. Currently, we have around 1,700. In August, we will implement the second stage for 2,300 individuals over a period of 1.5 months,” Donny told reporters at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, East Jakarta, on Friday (5/6/2026).

Donny explained that preparations for the second wave of training are underway. The Ministry of Defence has also been coordinating with various ministries to identify the civil servants who will participate in the programme.

“For the second stage, we have prepared everything and have coordinated with ministries to secure the civil servants who will be trained as the reserve component,” he said.

Donny expressed his hope that every regency and city will eventually host two Komcad battalions. He noted that this is a primary target for the Ministry of Defence.

“Our hope is that in every regency, there will be two Komcad battalions in addition to one infantry battalion. We aim for this to be implemented across all 514 regencies,” he added.

Furthermore, Donny elaborated on the role of the Komcad, stating that these personnel will be tasked with assisting the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) during military duties. “The primary task is to provide assistance through mobilisation from regional Komcad units when the TNI requires support for military defence duties,” he added.

Previously, the Ministry of Defence completed the first wave of basic military training (Latsarmil) for civil servants from various ministries and agencies for the 2026 fiscal year. This initial training involved 1,758 civil servants from 49 ministries and agencies who have now officially joined the Komcad.

“The participants of the first wave of basic military training for civil servants from 49 ministries/agencies for the 2026 budget year totalled 1,758 people, consisting of 1,292 men and 466 women. The training was conducted from 22 April to 5 June 2026,” reported Lieutenant General Gabriel Lema, Head of the National Reserve Agency (Bacadnas) of the Ministry of Defence, during the closing ceremony at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base on Friday (5/6).

The civil servants were officially sworn in as Komcad members on Wednesday (3/6).
