Second Son of Try Sutrisno Leads Funeral Prayer for Former Vice President

JAKARTA — The second son of the late sixth Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Try Sutrisno, Taufik Dwi Cahyono, led the funeral prayer for his father at Masjid Agung Sunda Kelapa in Central Jakarta on Monday, 2 March 2026.

According to observations, the prayer service was conducted at 12.27 WIB following the Midday prayer.

“Assalamualaikum. Honourable guests. We will conduct the funeral prayer for our father,” Taufik said before leading the prayer.

Taufik subsequently reminded the congregation of the proper procedure for the funeral prayer. The prayer was conducted with reverence.

“On behalf of our family, we express our gratitude for the presence of all of you who have accompanied us,” he stated.

For the record, Try Sutrisno passed away at RSPAD Gatot Subroto hospital on Monday morning. His remains are currently at a funeral home in the Menteng area of Jakarta for preparation.

The family stated that Try Sutrisno had no specific medical history that caused his death on 2 March 2026. His son, Taufik Dwi Cahyono, noted that his father’s health had declined due to his advanced age of 90 years.

Taufik explained that prior to his passing, Try had been hospitalised at RSPAD since 16 February 2026 after he suddenly lost his appetite. Medical teams from RSPAD and the Presidential office had provided the best available treatment to Try.

“(Hospitalised since) 16 February. So he suddenly lost his appetite, was brought here, ups and downs, given medication and food,” Taufik said.
