The Indonesian Foreign Ministry has announced that the second phase of the evacuation of Indonesian nationals from Iran is underway, involving 34 citizens being flown back to Indonesia in two waves.

“The second-phase evacuation is in progress, involving 34 Indonesian nationals who will be flown back to Indonesia in two waves,” said Heni Hamidah, Acting Director of Indonesian Citizen Protection at the Foreign Ministry, at the ministry’s headquarters in Central Jakarta on Friday, 13 March 2026.

Hamidah stated that the first wave of evacuation comprises 20 persons, expected to arrive in Indonesia today. “The first wave is scheduled to arrive at 18:00 WIB today with 20 people, and tomorrow 14 people will arrive in Jakarta on the same schedule,” she said.

Hamidah explained that the government will continue to monitor security conditions in Iran and will maintain close attention to Indonesian nationals remaining in the country. “The Indonesian Embassy in Teheran will continue to conduct security assessments in Iran and monitor the situation of Indonesian nationals still present there,” she stated.

Previously, the government had repatriated 32 Indonesian nationals from Iran in the first phase. Of these, 22 citizens were welcomed by Foreign Minister Sugiono upon arrival. “This evening, 22 of our citizens are returning in the first wave. Tomorrow, 10 more from Iran will arrive,” Sugiono told reporters at Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Tangerang, Banten, on Tuesday, 10 March.
