Second officer named in brutality case

YOGYAKARTA: A second policeman, Soleh, was named a suspect by
the Yogyakarta Police in the torture of Aan Yulianto, who died in
the hospital after being questioned by police over his suspected
involvement in a brawl between police officers and a group of
youths last week.

Yogyakarta Police's chief of internal affairs, Adj. Sr. Comr.
Pudjijono E.S., told reporters on Thursday evening that Soleh had
admitted his involvement in torturing Aan.

"The suspect confessed that he kicked Aan, who was in our
custody. We have two suspects now, but our investigation will not
finish here," Pudjijono said.

Soleh is the second officer to be named a suspect in the case,
after the police announced on Wednesday that Heri Subagyo was the
first suspect.

The 19-year-old Aan was one of five witnesses taken to the
provincial police headquarters for questioning over a brawl on
Jl. Magelang last week, in which a member of the police's Mobile
Brigade, Totok Sugiyarto, was stabbed by an unknown assailant.
