Search of Ono Surono's Home: Lawyer Protesting KPK Requests CCTV Be Turned Off

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) searched the home of West Java DPRD Deputy Chairman Ono Surono, located in Bandung, West Java, on Wednesday (1/4/2026). KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo revealed that the search was related to the alleged bribery case involving the Bekasi Regency project, which implicated the suspended Bekasi Regent Ade Kuswara Kunang. “Today, Wednesday, investigators conducted a search at the home of ONS (Ono Surono), who is a member of the West Java Provincial DPRD, located in Bandung City,” Budi Prasetyo stated in his remarks on Wednesday. Budi only said that Ono Surono was at home during the search. “Of course, in the series of search activities, when evidence items are secured and seized, it is also with the knowledge of ONS (Ono Surono),” Budi said at the Merah Putih Building in Jakarta on Wednesday. Separately, the lawyer for West Java DPRD Deputy Chairman Ono Surono, Sahali, assessed that there were several irregularities in the process of searching his client’s private home. Sahali still respects the ongoing legal process. However, he also questioned several steps taken by the investigators during the search. “We noted an irregularity because the investigators asked for the CCTV at Kang Ono’s house to be turned off during the search process. This makes us wonder why it has to go as far as turning off the CCTV? What is the legal basis?” Sahali said in a written statement received by Kompas.com on Wednesday night. Sahali stated that the search was conducted to find evidence. However, no evidence was found because his client is not involved in the case. “The search of our client’s home by the KPK was intended to find evidence, but since our client is indeed not involved, no evidence was found,” he said.
