Search for Two Missing Workers from Jember at Green Bowl Beach Continues, Helicopter Deployed
The search for two workers from Jember, East Java, who went missing after being swept away by currents at Green Bowl Beach in Ungasan Village, South Kuta District, Badung, continues. A FINNS SGi Air Bali helicopter was deployed to assist with aerial surveillance on Thursday (2/7/2026).
Head of the Denpasar Search and Rescue Office, I Nyoman Sidakarya, stated that the joint SAR team also deployed two rubber boats and one thermal drone on the fourth day of the search. “The marine assets we deployed today are two rubber boats, which have been operating from morning until this afternoon, and our ground SRU is conducting searches along the shoreline. For aerial assets today, we deployed two: a thermal drone and one FINNS SGi Air Bali helicopter,” Sidakarya said in a written statement received by detikBali on Thursday.
The FINNS SGi Air Bali helicopter took off from Benoa Heliport at 12.05 Wita, with the search area coverage estimated to reach 85.5 nautical miles. The aerial search effort lasted approximately one and a half hours. However, by the time the operation concluded, no signs of the two victims had been found.
Meanwhile, the marine SRU had been active since 07.50 Wita, deploying two rubber boats until midday. The search area at sea covered approximately 6.8 square nautical miles. The ground SRU focused on combing the shoreline and the area beneath the cliffs.
The search operation involved personnel from the Denpasar Search and Rescue Office, the Denpasar Police Water Unit, the Pandawa Beach Balawista, the victims’ families, and the local community.
It was previously reported that two workers from Jember, Roni Firmansyah (24) and Dimas Hilman Hafizudin (21), were reported to have been swept away by currents at Green Bowl Beach, Ungasan Village, South Kuta District, Badung, Bali, on Sunday (28/6/2026).
The incident began when five people were playing in the water at Green Bowl Beach. Three of them then exited the water and walked along the beach to look for crabs, while the other two remained in the sea. Shortly after, the two men still in the water were seen being carried by the current towards the open sea. Their friends attempted to provide assistance, but the increasingly large waves caused them to disappear from sight. The three individuals conducted a search independently before finally requesting help from local authorities.
