Search for Missing Foreign National at Tembles Beach Jembrana Hampered by Large Waves
The search for a foreign national with the initials MD who went missing at Tembles Beach, Penyaringan Village, Mendoyo District, Jembrana, Bali, has yet to yield results. The joint SAR team is being hampered by high tide and large waves in the area.
Monitoring by detikBali at the location on Monday (31/8/2026) afternoon showed that the search was focused along the Tembles Beach coastline. Officers have not been able to reach the middle of the sea because the water is currently at high tide accompanied by high waves that endanger rubber boats.
“As of this afternoon, the search is still fruitless,” said the Coordinator of the Jembrana Search and Rescue Post, Dewa Gede Hendri Gunawan, when met at the location on Monday.
Hendri revealed that the search for the Polish man had used a rubber boat from the point where he went missing heading west to Delod Berawah Beach. In addition to sweeping the waters, the SAR team was also deployed to sweep the land along the shoreline.
“We also conducted a two-kilometre sweep to the east on land, but the result is still nil,” he added.
Hendri explained that the search operation continues to prioritise personnel safety. He stressed that the joint SAR team is continuing to monitor the movement of the tides before redeploying boats to the middle of the waters.
“We are still waiting for the tide to recede before conducting another sweep,” concluded Dewa Hendri.
It is known that MD and his colleague from Japan with the initials NT initially visited a yoga site on the edge of Tembles Beach on Sunday (30/8) evening. At around 7.00 pm local time, the Polish man removed his clothes and decided to swim in the waters of Tembles Beach.
Meanwhile, NT waited on the shore. Until 9.00 pm local time, MD had not returned to land. The yoga site manager then conducted a search along the coastline. To date, the joint team from the Jembrana SAR Post together with the local police remain on standby at the scene.
