Search for Japanese divers continues

UJUNGPANDANG, South Sulawesi: Police on Selayar Island in South Sulawesi have joined forces with local search and rescue teams to locate five Japanese divers who have been missing in Bira Bulukumba waters since Friday.

The search teams comprise members of the Indonesian Navy, the local administration, the sea transportation office and fishermen, local police chief Lt. Col. Hendrawan said here yesterday.

They have now expanded their search not only in Bira waters but also in Bone Bay, north of Bira, Antara reported.

The teams are split into three groups with the first group searching in Bone Bay, the second on the Sembilan Islands and the third in Bira Bulukumba waters.

Hendrawan said a search team has found a pink scuba flipper but they could not say if it belongs to one of the missing divers.
